Wessex Blues *
  2001
Using Electric Quilt Software I designed a series of quilts as a 'Wessex Challenge' for 2001/2002 (If you wish to see the other quilts go to Electric Quilts) I made this quilt to show the group. The backing fabric is flannel, which makes it very cosy.

Blue & Yellow *
  2001
This is a quilt that started out as an online mystery, but I chose blues & Yellows instead of Red & Green as suggested, I didn't like the middle of the blocks when I came to assemble them so I unpicked them all & tried out various combinations in EQ5, when I was happy I re-made the centres. I am still not entirely happy with this quilt & think one day I will do some appliqué work on it.

The block is a framed ninepatch. Fiona Gray, who was kind enough to never laugh at my attempts at fine appliqué work, suggested the appliqué border to me, after I said I couldn't face making any more 1" finished squares. I look at my stitches now some five years after sewing them & cringe, but, thanks to lots of practice a 'Ted Storm' workshop & trying to emulate both Fiona & My Mothers' beautiful hand work, my stitches have at last improved. The quilting was done in circles as well as diagionally through the squares to give a different dimension to the quilt. I had quilted about half of it before my Mother said she would finish it for me, she also did a lovely job of sewing under the edges to make a self binding, a very kind thing to do as I had given up hope of ever getting this quilt finished. This remains my favourite quilt, even though it has taken the longest time to finish.

Scrap Fans *
  2002
I made lots of fan blocks but didn't put them together until I had tried out various combinations on the computer using my EQ4 software, when I was happy with the result I sewed them all together, My Mother then gamely offered to quilt it for me - a decision she then regretted as the black fabric was very hard on the eyes. I also have a photo of the back as I had pieced together some nine-patch blocks a la Kaffe Fassett. I thought the blocks were a bit headache inducing to see all the time.
